Swimmers Can Run?

Yup... Some, in fact, can run very long distances very fast!

After hearing that our alum Katelyn Drake set a new record in her last triathlon... well, it isn't surprising that Emily Tato goes right out on her heels and raises the bar!  Emily, always so modest, will be upset I am sharing her email below, but I can't help but pass it along to show off both her humility and talent!

It's a great day to be a Bobcat!  Congrats Ladies!

Sarah Bouchard and Emily Tato showing off their FIRST PLACE trophies!

Hey Coach- Hope all is well! Today Sarah (Bouchard), Emily Depew and I all ran a half marathon is Brunswick, and we had a great time!  I think that we put in a good showing for Bates Swimming!  Over 1000 people competed!! This is how we did:

I'm not sure of her exact time and place (and the results aren't up yet), but Emily Depew went just under 2 hours (breaking 2 hours was her goal), which was awesome! She was really happy afterwards!

Sarah got 80th overall (out of over 1000 men and women), and she won the women's 19 and under division! She went 1:40... so an hour and 40 minutes, which is averaging sub- 8 minute miles!!

I got 39th overall... 6th among all of the women, and I won the 20-29 age group with a time of 1:32... so averaging right around a 7:00 minute mile

Anyways, we all had a great time!  I'm even going to visit Sarah this summer, and we are going to run a 10-mile race together in Annapolis!

I attached a picture of Sarah and me with our trophies :)
