Born into a family that owns a pool company, Gabrielle Sergi understood her lot in life at an early age. The Newburyport native took to the pool as a swimmer and quickly became one of the most promising talents on the North Shore.

Now a sophomore at Bates College, Sergi continues to improve, recently collecting multiple personal-best times at the New England Small Colleges Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships at Wesleyan College. Sergi placed fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.24), swimming the second-fastest race in Bates College program history. She also placed 10th in the 100 free (53.12), 18th in the 100 backstroke (1:00.69) and swam on four relay teams.

Sergi has been a member of four school-record setting relay teams in her two seasons at Bates.
