This is my third year as Head Coach of the Bates team, and I'll tell you, I like this year's schedule a lot. Not a lot of meets first semester, but that is OK. With my first day on deck being November 1st the team will be just fine getting in some serious training in preparation for -what I hope to be - a difficult training trip. The highlight of this semester will surely come on the 12th of December when he head up to Orono to take on the Division I University of Maine Black Bears. Nothing like finishing off the semester in an environment that necessitates both fast swimming and great diving!
Second semester we compete every weekend - which is perfect as we attempt to enter the "race development" phase of the season. Getting in a race against great opponents will only help prepare us for the NESCAC championships. We'll see Middlebury, Tufts, and Conn. Three of the top five teams in the conference. We will also be competing for that coveted CBB title with duals against Bowdoin and Colby. I can't wait to see how the team responds to the challenge.
