Summer Update

Katelyn Drake - Academic All-American!
Lets recap. Katelyn had the 19th fastest 100 backstroke time in the country last year. Her 200 backstroke placed 14th in the country at the meet. She broke 6 varsity records. Most importantly though, she had her best semester yet academically getting a 3.5! Getting invited to the national meet is awesome. Getting your best GPA yet is even better. Being recognized your sophomore year as an Academic All-American, well as Mastercard would say, "priceless."

Dan Perry and Charlotte Green
Academic All-American, Honorable Mention!

Both Dan and Charlotte posted national consideration cuts. Dan's 1m and 3m ended up being ranked top 30 in the country, and Charlotte's 100 freestyle was the 27th fastest in Division III last year. Even though they didn't get selected to the meet, they were easily among the most elite in the country! Impressive, huh? More impressive though is the fact that they were both over 3.5 with their GPA allowing them to walk away with this award.

Finally, our women's team finished up with a 3.32 Team GPA giving them the honor of being selected as an Academic All-American Swimming and Diving Program - with a "superior rating."

Recruiting in 20 plus freshman was good. Posting 105 lifetime bests was great. Breaking 13 school records was fantastic. However, nothing compares to being labeled as an Academic All-American program. I couldn't be more proud, especially since it is the athletes that make this happen.

So yes, being the best in the nation is one thing... being the best while you are doing your best in the classroom... well that is simply the ultimate.

Congrats Bobcats! What a fitting ending to the season!!
