AFrye is off to Nationals!

It's been a while since my last post (my bad!) - however, I just found out that our very own Alison Frye is headed off to sunny California to compete for Bates in the National Championship for Rowing! Alison rows for the varsity eight, and although this is just her second year competing, she is making a huge impact on the team. Below is a quick blurb by the college...

The Bates College varsity eight received the bid Tuesday for its second straight trip to the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships. The championships will be held May 30 through June 1 at Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, California. The Bobcats, who placed third as a team at the 2007 nationals and also won the bronze medal in the varsity eight grand final, are ranked No. 3 in Division III by the College Rowing Coaches Association and qualify fresh off a third-place performance at last weekend's National Invitational in Worcester, Mass.

I just wanted to say congratulations to Alison and tell her how awesome I think it is to have another athlete on our team with national level experience. As a coach, and former athelete, I know how hard it is to get to that level - and how hard you have to work to achieve such a great honor. We are all proud of you A.Frye and can't wait to cheer you on!

A fitting send off for a remarkably talented and dedicated collegiate team and coaching staff.
